WAFCON 2026: Malawi appoints technical adviser ahead of Super Falcons opener

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has appointed Sudesh Singh as technical adviser to the national women’s team, the Scorchers, ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Singh will work alongside head coach Lovemore Fazili and performance analyst Tyrese Steyn during the tournament.

According to FAM, the appointment follows a Confederation of African Football (CAF) directive requiring the coach leading a team at WAFCON to possess a CAF A Licence.

Under the arrangement, Singh will provide technical guidance to the coaching crew, while Fazili will remain the team’s head coach throughout the competition.

The Scorchers will be making their first-ever appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Morocco.

Malawi have been drawn in Group C alongside defending champions Nigeria, regional rivals Zambia, and Egypt.

They will begin their campaign against the Super Falcons in Rabat on Tuesday, July 28.
