2027 Polls: APC, ADC, LP, Six Other Parties Obtain INEC Candidate Nomination Access Codes
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that nine registered political parties have obtained access codes required to upload the particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
INEC National Commissioner for Voter Education and Publicity, Mohammed Haruna, disclosed this on Tuesday in Abuja, stating that the parties completed the process as of the close of business on Monday.
The political parties include Accord (A), Action Alliance (AA), African Democratic Congress (ADC), All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), National Democratic Congress (NDC), National Democratic Party (NDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Haruna explained that it is the responsibility of each political party to collect the access code from the commission, noting that only authorised representatives with official letters from their party leadership are eligible to receive it.
He urged political parties to comply strictly with INEC’s candidate nomination guidelines, adding that officials of the parties had already been trained on the nomination process.
The commissioner also cautioned parties against delaying the submission of nomination forms until the deadline, stressing that although INEC has extended submissions to midnight on the closing date, any last-minute challenges would be the responsibility of the affected parties.
According to the commission’s timetable, political parties are expected to submit nomination forms for the Presidential and National Assembly elections between June 27 and July 11, while submissions for Governorship and State Assembly elections will run from July 18 to August 8.
