Badenoch labels Starmer ‘terrible Prime Minister’ after resignation

Leader of the UK Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has criticised outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, describing him as “a terrible Prime Minister” following his resignation.

 

Starmer announced on Monday that he would step down as Labour Party leader after less than two years in office but would remain prime minister until a successor is elected.

 

Reacting in a post on X, Badenoch blamed Starmer’s government for what she described as a series of policy failures, insisting that Britain’s challenges were the result of poor leadership rather than the country being ungovernable.

 

She accused the Labour administration of increasing National Insurance contributions, introducing what she called the “Family Farm Tax,” abandoning welfare reforms, underfunding defence, failing to expand domestic oil and gas production, and appointing Peter Mandelson before allegedly misleading the public about the circumstances.

 

“Britain is not ungovernable. Keir Starmer is a terrible Prime Minister,” Badenoch wrote.

 

She also argued that Labour’s problems extend beyond Starmer, claiming the party’s lawmakers favour higher taxes to fund increased welfare spending.

 

Calling for a return to Conservative leadership, Badenoch said Britain needed policies that would revive economic growth and restore effective governance.

 

Starmer announced his resignation after months of political pressure, policy reversals and declining public support, saying he would remain in office until the Labour Party elects a new leader.
