Trump threatens strike on Iran over alleged Hezbollah support
US President Donald Trump has threatened military action against Iran if it fails to restrain what he described as its “highly paid proxies” in Lebanon, amid escalating tensions involving Hezbollah.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Sunday, Trump warned that Iran must “immediately stop” Hezbollah from carrying out attacks, or face a strong response from the United States.
“If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!” he wrote.
The US President was referring to Hezbollah, the Iran-backed group in Lebanon, which has been engaged in renewed clashes with Israel in recent days, raising concerns over a wider regional escalation.
Trump’s remarks came as peace talks involving the United States and Iran reportedly commenced in Switzerland, aimed at stabilising tensions linked to the broader Middle East conflict.
