Isaac Fayose Alleges Vote-Buying Plot Ahead of Ekiti Governorship Election
Businessman Isaac Fayose has alleged that there are plans to buy votes ahead of Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election, calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to monitor the poll closely.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page, Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose, claimed he had received credible information that the All Progressives Congress (APC) planned to induce voters with money.
He urged the EFCC to identify and arrest anyone involved in vote-buying during the election.
Fayose argued that flaws in Nigeria’s electoral system have prevented credible candidates from emerging through the ballot, adding that the country’s development depends on free and fair elections.
He said the conduct of the EFCC during the Ekiti poll would demonstrate the agency’s commitment to tackling electoral offences.
The APC had not responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
