The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a scathing attack on members of the Accord Party in the National and State Assemblies, accusing them of spreading falsehoods and engaging in what it described as a campaign of misinformation against the party, its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

The party alleged that the Accord Party had resorted to fabricating allegations against the APC due to fears over Governor Ademola Adeleke’s chances of securing a second term in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Speaking in a statement issued on Friday, Osun APC Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said the opposition party would not be distracted by what he described as “baseless and concocted allegations.”

According to him, “It has become obvious that members of the Accord Party have realised that there is no miracle capable of guaranteeing the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke. Their response has been to manufacture lies against the APC, Asiwaju Oyebamiji and Alhaji Oyetola in a desperate attempt to mislead the public.”

Olabisi dismissed recent allegations linking the APC to acts of violence and political unrest in the state, describing them as “frivolous fabrications” existing only in the imagination of their promoters.

He further alleged that the Accord Party was laying the groundwork for what he called its impending defeat at the polls.

“The people of Osun can clearly see through these tactics. The constant stream of allegations has become their trademark, and it is fast losing credibility among the electorate,” he said.

The APC spokesman maintained that Oyebamiji remained focused on issue-based campaigning and would not resort to violence in pursuit of electoral victory.

“AMBO is a man of peace who does not need violence to win an election. He has been working tirelessly across the state, building support and laying the foundation for victory long before now,” Olabisi stated.

He argued that the APC candidate was a serious contender with a clear strategy for governance, while accusing the Adeleke administration of failing to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Olabisi also claimed that the political future of Accord Party lawmakers was tied to the outcome of the governorship election, alleging that their recent comments were driven by anxiety over the governor’s re-election prospects.

“Their panic is understandable because they know the tide has turned against them. The reality is that Governor Adeleke has already lost the confidence of many voters ahead of the election,” he said.

The APC spokesman, however, reiterated the party’s commitment to peaceful democratic engagement, stressing that it would never embrace violence as a political strategy.

“We want to make it abundantly clear that the APC has never embraced violence and will never do so under any circumstances. We urge the public to remain vigilant and not be deceived by false narratives aimed at creating unnecessary tension in the state,” Olabisi added.
