Tinubu celebrates Kumuyi at 85, lauds global impact of ministry

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, on his 85th birthday, describing him as a devoted servant of God whose ministry has transformed millions of lives across the world.

 

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised Kumuyi’s unwavering faith, discipline and commitment to Christian evangelism over the past five decades.

 

Tinubu noted that the cleric’s influence extends beyond Nigeria through the Global Crusade with Kumuyi, which has reached audiences across different continents.

 

“As the convener of Global Crusade with Kumuyi, your voice has reached beyond the church walls and national borders, bringing hope and encouragement to millions across the world,” the President said.

 

“Your writings have illuminated minds, inspired hearts, and provided timeless guidance to those seeking truth and purpose.”

 

The President also commended Kumuyi’s contributions to family values, leadership development and spiritual growth, saying his ministry has left a lasting impact on generations of believers.

 

“Your ministry and influence have transformed lives, restored families, inspired leaders, and strengthened the faith of generations of believers,” Tinubu stated.

 

He prayed for the cleric’s continued health, strength and divine grace.

 

“On this special day, I pray that Almighty God continues to grant you strength, divine health, peace, and abundant grace,” he added.

 

Born on June 6, 1941, in Erin-Ijesha, Osun State, Kumuyi founded the Deeper Life Bible Church in 1973 as a campus fellowship at the University of Lagos, where he worked as a mathematics lecturer.

 

Over the years, the ministry has grown into one of Africa’s largest Pentecostal denominations, with branches in more than 150 countries worldwide.

 

Kumuyi is widely regarded as one of the most influential Christian leaders in Africa, known for his emphasis on holiness, evangelism and biblical teaching.
