Politicians behind school abductions, Ibiyeomie alleges
Founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, has alleged that politicians are sponsoring the recent wave of school kidnappings across Nigeria.
Speaking amid growing concern over the abduction of pupils and teachers in states including Oyo and Sokoto, the cleric argued that the kidnappers could not be operating without influential backers.
According to him, those carrying out the abductions are likely acting on behalf of sponsors who remain behind the scenes.
“They are not just picking these children without sponsors. Politicians must be behind it; they can’t pick children and show their pictures,” Ibiyeomie said.
The pastor also questioned the ability of security agencies to track and apprehend those responsible for the kidnappings.
He specifically queried why the Department of State Services (DSS), which he said has the capacity to trace communications and locations, has not been able to identify and arrest the perpetrators.
“Do you know that even the DSS can track people and know where they are, so how come they are not tracking these kidnappers?” he asked.
“There must be an invisible hand behind it because if you are calling from anywhere they would know the spot where you are, so how come in Nigeria nobody is ever caught?”
