Osun 2026: Davido vows on-ground presence to safeguard election, backs Adeleke’s re-election bid

Afrobeats superstar, Davido, has declared that he will be physically present during the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026, to prevent any attempt at electoral manipulation.

Davido made the pledge via his Instagram page while reacting to a video clip shared online featuring former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner, Nnenna Otti, who spoke on electoral fraud and the need to protect the integrity of the ballot.

The singer, who has remained openly involved in political conversations surrounding Osun State, warned that any attempt to rig the election would be strongly resisted.

“On August 15, anybody who tries to rig will face the consequences in the highest order. I will be on the field to defend our votes… Keke must be used if need be,” he wrote, reaffirming his support for his uncle and incumbent governor.

The governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking a second term under the Accord Party, has continued to receive vocal backing from the music star, who has been actively involved in his campaign structure.

Davido was recently appointed as head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party governorship campaign council and also inaugurated the “Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council,” further strengthening his political involvement ahead of the polls.

In recent weeks, he has also criticised former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, accusing him of political desperation and alleging attempts to destabilise the state ahead of the election.

The Osun governorship election is expected to be a keenly contested race, with heightened political activities already shaping the atmosphere months before the polls.
