How plot to bomb Ondo Government House was foiled — Aiyedatiwa

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has disclosed that security operatives foiled an alleged plot by a group of youths to bomb the Ondo State Government House through coordinated intelligence-led operations.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, the governor said the plan was uncovered about three to four months ago after security agencies received intelligence reports on suspicious activities.

According to him, the suspects were initially lodged in a hotel before relocating to a rented apartment where they allegedly continued preparations for the attack.

Aiyedatiwa said operatives of the police and the Amotekun Corps acted on the intelligence, raided the location, and arrested the suspects.

He added that materials suspected to be linked to the alleged bombing plot were recovered during the operation.

“The police and Amotekun moved in, raided the location, arrested the suspects, and they remain in custody,” the governor said.

The governor noted that investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the alleged plan, stressing that the incident highlights the importance of intelligence-driven security operations.

He also said many security successes often go unreported because threats are neutralised before they materialise.

Aiyedatiwa further assured residents that the state government remains committed to strengthening security through intelligence sharing and collaboration with regional security outfits.

He also linked the development to broader security efforts in the state, including cooperation among South-West governors and continued deployment of surveillance and preventive strategies.
