Adeleke Moves To Foil School Kidnappings, Holds Marathon Security Meetings In Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has intensified efforts to forestall security threats across the state, holding a series of high-level security meetings aimed at preventing criminal activities, particularly the feared abduction of schoolchildren.

The governor’s security engagements, which began two days ago, continued on Tuesday with consultations involving both formal and informal security stakeholders as part of a broader strategy to safeguard lives and property.

As part of the exercise, Adeleke met with representatives of local hunters, the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), Agbekoya groups and the Osun Amotekun Corps, seeking stronger collaboration among grassroots security networks and conventional security agencies.

Sources at the meetings disclosed that discussions centred on intelligence gathering, surveillance of vulnerable communities and strengthening security presence in border areas considered susceptible to criminal infiltration.

The governor was also said to have received reports identifying potential flashpoints and emerging security concerns across the state.

Meanwhile, the State Security Council, comprising heads of security agencies and service commanders, convened at the Governor’s Office on Tuesday afternoon to fine-tune strategies for tackling security challenges.

Speaking after the meeting, the Security Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Samuel Ojo, said the council had agreed on proactive measures designed to neutralise threats before they materialise.

According to him, the administration is particularly focused on preventing any attempt to replicate school kidnapping incidents recorded in some parts of the country.

“The details of the security strategy are being kept secret. But on behalf of Mr Governor, I want to assure our people that Osun is safe and secure,” Ojo said.

He stressed that the state government remains committed to deploying every lawful means to protect residents and maintain peace across Osun.

The latest security consultations come amid growing concerns over reports of criminal activities in some parts of the country, prompting the Adeleke administration to adopt what officials described as a proactive and intelligence-driven approach to security management.
