Unity Cup: Nigeria defeat Zimbabwe 2-0, reach final

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have qualified for the final of the 2026 Unity Cup after defeating Zimbabwe 2-0 in London on Tuesday night.

Debutant Femi Azeez was the star of the match, scoring twice on his first appearance for the senior national team.

The Millwall winger opened scoring within the opening five minutes before adding his second goal in the 63rd minute to secure victory for the defending champions.

Nigeria controlled the game from start to finish, dominating possession and creating several chances while restricting Zimbabwe to limited opportunities.

Super Eagles Head Coach Eric Chelle expressed satisfaction with the team’s display, particularly the contributions of players handed opportunities during the tournament.

The victory also ended Nigeria’s recent winless run against Zimbabwe after a series of drawn encounters between both countries.

Azeez, who enjoyed an impressive season with English Championship side Millwall, delivered a standout performance that could further boost his profile ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nigeria will face the winner of the second semi-final between India and Jamaica in the final.
