The broadcaster made the remark in an interview on the YouTube channel Outside The Box, released on Saturday, where he reflected on emotional vulnerability, masculinity, and how he wants to be remembered after death.
“I don’t want to go to the gates of heaven and they ask me what killed me and they say it’s a woman. Whether that woman be my daughter, my wife, my mother, I don’t want that. I don’t want that to be my way out of this portal,” he said.
Edoho, who rose to fame as the host of the Nigerian edition of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, said he prefers a life and death defined by impact rather than emotional pain.
“I want to die with a smile on my face saying that all the people I met, I tried to put a smile on their face… Not that I wish I had more time, that’s all,” he added.
The interview comes amid heightened public attention on his personal life, following recent allegations by his estranged wife, Sandra Onyenucheya, who accused him of infidelity, emotional abuse, financial recklessness, and pressure related to their pregnancy.
Edoho has also responded separately with counterclaims, including allegations of infidelity on her part, though he did not revisit the dispute during the interview.
Instead, he focused on broader issues affecting men, saying many suffer in silence due to societal expectations.
“The task of manhood is very daunting. Men don’t speak. Men go through a lot… Some of them go to the grave with it,” he said.
He also revealed he once went through a difficult personal period lasting about two years, which he kept hidden from the public.
“For two years… I was in a very dark hole but nobody knew… I just said this is a journey I have to make on myself,” he said.
Edoho added that his experience as a broadcaster helped him mask personal struggles in public.
“Broadcasting taught me how to have a poker face… but ironically, I can’t do it in real life,” he said.
Edoho’s marriage to Sandra is his second. His first marriage to broadcaster Katherine Obiang also ended in separation.
