BBNaija’s Ilebaye moved into protective custody, father remains detained

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command says 2023 Big Brother Naija winner, Ilebaye Odiniya, and her two younger brothers have been moved into protective custody following an altercation involving their father, Honourable Emmanuel Odiniya.

Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, gave the update on Sunday, noting that all parties involved in the incident were taken for medical attention after sustaining injuries during the confrontation.

According to her, the reality TV star and her siblings — Godson Emmanuel Odiniya (14) and Devin Emmanuel Odiniya (10) — were rescued alongside their father and rushed to Yabisam Hospital, Lugbe.

“Following the rescue of Ms. Ilebaye Odiniya Emmanuel (27 yrs) and her two brothers… they were rushed to Yabisam Hospital… while their father, who also sustained injuries during the confrontation, was taken to hospital by the Area Commander Metro,” Adeh said.

She added that the siblings are now in police protective custody, while their father remains in police custody and is also receiving medical treatment.

Adeh stressed that investigations are ongoing and that questioning of all parties will begin once they are declared medically fit.

“Investigations are ongoing, and questioning will commence immediately all parties are certified medically stable,” she said.

The incident followed an earlier distress call received by the police in the early hours of Friday from Royal Anchor Estate, Wuye, Abuja, reporting an alleged assault on Ilebaye by her father.

Police said officers from Wuye Division and the Department of Operations were deployed to the scene and forced entry after initially being denied access.

“Ms. Ilebaye… was found with visible bruises and rescued alongside her brothers,” the statement added.

The case gained public attention after a viral video surfaced online showing the BBNaija star in tears with visible injuries, prompting widespread concern.

Meanwhile, family sources claim the altercation began during a visit by Ilebaye to the family home to see her brothers, before an argument reportedly escalated over family disagreements.

The police say the matter remains under investigation as efforts continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
