Adeleke’s Spokesman Slams Omowaiye, Dismisses Allegations as False

The Spokesperson to Osun State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Monday described criticisms of the administration by Mr. Remi Omowaiye as “a pack of lies,” insisting that the claims amounted to “fake news” and deliberate misinformation.

Rasheed faulted allegations of financial mismanagement levelled against Governor Ademola Adeleke, saying the administration has instead committed state resources to “locally and nationally acknowledged projects and programmes executed judiciously for public benefit.”

He also dismissed Omowaiye’s claim that Osun State lacks an electricity law, maintaining that the legislation is already in force. According to him, the state is also witnessing steady industrial growth with the revival of Free Trade Zones allegedly abandoned by the previous APC administration.

On infrastructure, the governor’s spokesman defended the Okefia Flyover, stating that it was built in line with “local and international engineering standards.” He, however, criticised the Olaiya Bridge, which he said was executed under Omowaiye’s supervision, alleging that it has been marked defective and now requires proper load management.

Rasheed further accused Omowaiye of attacking local contractors, insisting that firms handling state projects were transparent and had delivered quality jobs across several sites including Okefia, Lameco and other critical infrastructure projects.

On security funding, he maintained that Governor Adeleke does not treat security votes as “slush funds,” unlike previous administrations, adding that such funds are strictly deployed to support security agencies and address communal crises.

“We challenge Omowaiye to run a fact-based campaign. His remarks at the Correspondents’ Chapel today were laced with lies and half-truths,” Rasheed said.

He also defended the administration’s performance in key sectors, claiming improvements in education, healthcare and water supply. “We affirm that based on his failure at the Osun Investment Agency, the Ministry of Finance and the National Inland Waterways Authority, Mr. Oyebamiji is not an alternative to a performing incumbent who has taken Osun to number seven from 33 in education ranking, moved the state to first position in primary healthcare access and number five in access to potable water across the federation,” he added.
