Trump insists Hormuz blockade will remain until US-Iran deal is reached

United States President Donald Trump has said the naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz will remain in place until a final agreement is reached with Iran, signaling a hardline stance amid ongoing tensions.

Trump made the declaration in a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday, linking the blockade directly to broader negotiations with Tehran.

“This has been, in addition to everything else, regime change, and perhaps, most important of all, the blockade, which we will not take off until there is a deal, is absolutely destroying Iran,” he wrote.

The US president also claimed the disruption in the Strait — a key global energy route — is redirecting oil demand toward the United States.

“The Iranian leadership has forced hundreds of ships toward the United States, mostly Texas, Louisiana, and Alaska, to get their oil — thank you very much!” Trump added.
