President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that he remains unfazed by mounting pressure from opposition figures ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that he cannot be intimidated.

Tinubu spoke on Thursday at the State House, Abuja, while receiving members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors led by Hope Uzodimma.

“They want to scare me off? That is not possible. I have been through this path before,” the president said.

He stressed his commitment to Nigeria’s development, noting that nation-building requires resilience and continuity of purpose.

“There is no better place than our country, and no one else can build it except us,” he added.

Speaking on the economy, Tinubu said he has taken full responsibility for current realities, describing late former President Muhammadu Buhari as a partner in governance.

“I took over from myself. Buhari was my partner. If anything is wrong, we will fix it and move forward,” he said.

The president acknowledged that ongoing reforms may be challenging but maintained that they are necessary for long-term growth and stability.

He also dismissed critics of his administration’s performance, saying those who fail to see the progress would eventually come to terms with it.

“If they refuse to see the hope, we will make them see it,” he said, in a remark laced with humour.

Tinubu urged Nigerians, particularly members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of his administration’s policies.

“You represent the conscience of a nation determined to break free from poverty and hopelessness,” he stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to democratic values, including the rule of law, separation of powers and respect for judicial authority.

“We must obey lawful court orders and uphold the judiciary, whether the outcome favours us or not,” he said.

The president further emphasised the need for unity and a shared national vision, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved through collective effort.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima and several governors, as well as key political figures, were present at the event.
