Lagos seals four properties over illegal wastewater discharge

The Lagos State Government has sealed four properties in Ikotun and Ajah for discharging untreated wastewater into public spaces.

Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed that the enforcement was carried out by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office following complaints and investigations.

Two residential buildings at Oritola Street and Temitope Street in Ikotun were shut after authorities found that owners were deliberately channeling untreated wastewater onto roads.

In Ajah, a public toilet and a mechanic workshop along Badore Road were also sealed for indiscriminate discharge into public drains.

Wahab warned that the government would sustain its enforcement drive, stressing that violators of environmental laws risk sanctions and prosecution.

He urged residents and property managers to comply with proper wastewater management practices to protect public health and the environment.
