2027: Ejimakor explains ‘City Boy’ setback in Southeast

Counsel to IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, Aloy Ejimakor, has attributed the poor reception of President Bola Tinubu’s “City Boy” movement in the Southeast to growing political apathy among youths in the region.

In a statement shared on X, Ejimakor said many Igbo youths are unwilling to participate in elections while Kanu remains in detention, describing the issue as the dominant factor shaping political attitudes.

According to him, the lack of interest in electoral processes has significantly limited the movement’s ability to gain traction across the Southeast.

The pro-Tinubu group had appointed businessman Obinna Iyiegbu as its Southeast coordinator, but its activities in parts of the region, including Imo State, reportedly recorded low turnout.

Ejimakor maintained that Kanu’s continued incarceration remains a central concern influencing youth engagement in politics in the region.
