The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has called on the Osun State Government to investigate complaints raised by students of the University of Ilesa (UNILESA).

In a statement, the South-West Zone D Coordinator of NANS, Josiah Adeyemo, said the allegations require urgent attention to protect students’ welfare and ensure accountability within the institution.

He cited concerns over what he described as questionable financial demands, including a ₦25,000 fee for entrepreneurial training programmes that students claim have not been delivered.

Adeyemo also raised issues about a ₦5,000 per session charge for access to the university’s online portal, alleging that the platform remains unreliable despite the payments.

He further pointed to inadequate ICT infrastructure, including poor Wi-Fi services, and broader concerns about the learning environment and absence of an active student union.

The student body urged the state government to review the situation and take necessary action where necessary.

The development follows recent controversy involving a UNILESA graduate, Adedoyin Temitope, who was reportedly arrested after protesting over alleged delays in mobilisation for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The arrest had drawn criticism from the National Association of University Students (NAUS), which condemned the incident.

However, the university management, through its Registrar, Funso Ojo, denied the claims, stating that the institution is yet to graduate its first set of students since its establishment in 2023.
