Former senator Iyabo Obasanjo has reaffirmed her ambition to contest the Ogun State governorship in 2027 after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos.

Speaking after the meeting, Obasanjo described her engagement with the President as “fruitful and memorable,” noting that their discussions focused on leadership, governance, and national development.

She commended Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening democracy and supporting emerging leaders, expressing appreciation for what she described as his “time, wisdom, and dedication to nation-building.”

Obasanjo, who previously served as a senator representing Ogun Central and as Commissioner for Health, said she remains committed to a people-centred leadership approach as consultations ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.

Reaffirming her governorship ambition, she emphasized her experience in public service and deep understanding of the needs of Ogun State residents.

According to her, key priorities would include improving education, enhancing healthcare delivery, and creating employment opportunities for young people.

“We must build a state where our young people have jobs, where our schools produce future leaders, and where our health institutions can adequately cater for the needs of our citizens,” she said.

Obasanjo added that her goal is to ensure inclusive development and improved quality of life across all parts of the state.
