A presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, Abayomi Rotimi, has explained why he chose to pursue his 2027 ambition within the party despite its ongoing leadership challenges.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, Rotimi said the internal crisis within the party should not be seen as enough reason to dismiss its political relevance, stressing that no political platform is entirely without flaws.

According to him, although the party is facing internal difficulties, it still offers room for reform and constructive engagement.

He noted that his decision was guided by the belief that no institution is completely good or bad, adding that the current realities within the nation’s political space require working with available alternatives that can be improved.

Rotimi maintained that the challenges confronting the ADC were largely self-inflicted but expressed optimism that they could be resolved if the leadership demonstrates sincerity and takes necessary corrective steps.

The presidential hopeful also suggested that for lasting peace and effective administration to prevail within the party, certain attitudes capable of undermining unity must be avoided, particularly actions that demean other stakeholders.

He further emphasized that political actors within the party must place collective interest above personal influence if the ADC hopes to strengthen its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
