Tinubu Intensifies Security Push, Seeks Lasting Peace Across Nigeria — Information Minister
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is placing national security at the centre of his administration’s immediate priorities, with sustained consultations aimed at ending insecurity across the country.
Idris made this known on Sunday after meeting with President Tinubu in Lagos, where the President is observing the Easter holiday.
According to the minister, Tinubu remains deeply concerned about the nation’s security challenges and has continued to engage heads of security agencies in search of practical and permanent solutions to violent threats confronting different parts of the country.
He explained that the Federal Government is also strengthening cooperation with regional and international allies to restore peace and stability, noting that President Tinubu recently held discussions with Chad’s President, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, on security concerns affecting the Sahel region.
Idris said the President urged Nigerians to remain patriotic and united, assuring citizens that their concerns are being heard at the highest level.
“Mr President is listening carefully to Nigerians and monitoring developments closely. Security remains uppermost in his mind, and he is determined to ensure that lasting peace returns to the country,” the minister stated.
He added that Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, has continued to hold strategic consultations with security chiefs and relevant stakeholders after his recent engagements in Jos.
The minister further revealed that the administration is receiving encouraging feedback from international financial institutions and development partners, who, according to him, have acknowledged ongoing reforms by the Federal Government.
“International development partners, finance agencies and rating bodies are giving Nigeria positive reviews. They are seeing clear signs that the reforms are beginning to work and positioning Nigeria favourably again in the global community,” Idris said.
He stressed that President Tinubu remains committed to ensuring that the reforms take deeper root for the benefit of all Nigerians while sustaining efforts to address insecurity nationwide.
