Stakeholders at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, have raised strong objections to the suspension of the Deputy Provost election results by the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Hajia Saadat Moddibo Kawu.

The Congress of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU) described the action as undemocratic, emphasizing that the election, held on February 25, 2026, was free, fair, and conducted in accordance with established procedures.

Speaking on behalf of the union, a senior COEASU official urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq to intervene and ensure that due process is followed in approving the results. “We appeal to the governor to uphold the democratic rights of our members and guarantee that the duly elected Deputy Provosts receive their appointment letters without further delay,” the union stated.

While condemning the suspension, COEASU commended Governor AbdulRasaq for his unwavering commitment to staff welfare and the ongoing infrastructural development in the state, describing his leadership as progressive.

The union stressed that the immediate approval of the election results would restore confidence in the system and prevent unrest among academic staff.
