Famurewa Resigns from Federal College of Education, Iwo, Joins APC Race for Osun East Senate Seat
Former lawmaker, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has resigned from his position on the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Iwo, to contest the Osun East senatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
In a letter dated March 30, 2026, Famurewa cited adherence to the President’s directive on political officeholders seeking elective positions as the reason for his resignation. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve on the college council.
“I humbly tender my resignation as a Member of the Federal College of Education, Iwo Governing Council with immediate effect in line with Mr. President’s directive on the 2027 general election contest,” he stated.
Famurewa will be vying for the APC ticket alongside incumbent Senator Francis Fadahunsi, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC in 2025, and Mr. Thomas Ogungbange. Senator Fadahunsi has confirmed his intention to return to the Senate.
Famurewa’s political resume includes serving as Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and representing Ijesa South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
