Wike Camp Elects Abdulrahman Mohammed as PDP Chairman, Odeyemi Oladiran Emerges National Treasurer

A faction of Nyesom Wike-backed Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday elected 21 members into a new National Working Committee, NWC, during its elective national convention held at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The convention, which took place at the velodrome of the national stadium, produced Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman, while Samuel Anyanwu emerged as National Secretary and Odeyemi Oladiran was elected National Treasurer through a consensus arrangement adopted by delegates at the gathering.

The development came amid deepening divisions within the opposition party, with the PDP currently split into rival camps over the control of its national leadership.

Recall that a faction led by Kabiru Turaki had approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria on Friday, seeking an order to stop the Wike-backed camp from holding the convention.

However, the exercise went ahead as scheduled, with members of the dissolved national caretaker committee returning several officers through consensus.
