Two aides in the Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda’s administration have resigned to pursue elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The state Commissioner for Environment, Hamza Suleiman, and the Governor’s Special Assistant on Drugs, Narcotics and Human Trafficking, Shehu Abdu Daura, submitted their resignation letters on Monday, in line with the Electoral Act, which requires political appointees to step down before contesting elections.
Sources revealed that Suleiman intends to run for the Katsina South Senatorial District (Funtua Zone), currently represented by Muntari Mohammed, while Abdu plans to contest for Katsina North Senatorial District (Daura Zone), challenging incumbent Nasiru Sani.
Speaking after submitting his resignation to the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari, Suleiman thanked Governor Radda for the opportunity to serve. He commended the administration’s “Build Your Future” agenda, describing his tenure as a privilege that allowed him to contribute to the state’s growth and development.
