NBA Launches Iseyin Branch to Boost Grassroots Justice in Oyo State

In a move aimed at enhancing access to justice and strengthening legal services at the grassroots, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Saturday inaugurated its Iseyin branch in Oyo State.q

Speaking at the event, Salau Yekeen, chairman of the organising committee, described the inauguration as a “historic milestone” for the legal community in Iseyin and its environs.

“This initiative seeks to bring the vision, values, and impact of the NBA closer to the people, particularly within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Justice, Iseyin Judicial Division,” Yekeen said.

He added that the branch would address the rising demand for legal representation and create opportunities for collaboration among institutions within the area.

“Beyond administrative expansion, this branch is designed to deepen engagement, foster partnerships, and provide a strong platform for all stakeholders in justice administration,” Yekeen noted.

Olugbenga Bamgbose, chairman of the caretaker committee, highlighted the branch’s role in promoting unity and responsiveness among lawyers in the region. “It will serve as a structured platform for legal practitioners to collaborate, tackle local legal challenges, and contribute meaningfully to justice delivery,” he said.

The event, attended by NBA President Afam Osigwe (SAN), Oyo State Attorney General Abiodun Aikomo, NBA General Secretary Mobolaji Ojibara, former Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola, and Chief Judge of Oyo State Iyabo Yerima, featured the laying of the foundation for the branch’s permanent site and the commissioning of a 16-seater bus.

The NBA’s expansion into Iseyin is expected to strengthen legal service delivery, ensure effective representation for residents, and foster closer ties between lawyers and the communities they serve.
