Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday stormed the Abuja residence of former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, as part of moves linked to an ongoing investigation into alleged financial misconduct.

The operatives, said to be heavily armed and led by Folarin Dare, reportedly arrived the Maitama property in about five buses and immediately took control of the surrounding area.

Eyewitnesses said access to the residence located at No. 2 Koranakh Close, off Amazon Street, Maitama, Abuja, was restricted as security personnel barricaded roads leading to the building.

Sources indicated that the action may be connected to efforts by the anti-graft agency to secure the property as investigations continue into alleged financial improprieties involving the former minister.

The operation caused temporary disruption in the area as movement around the residence was closely monitored by the operatives.
