Court to rule on El-Rufai’s bail application March 31
The Federal High Court of Nigeria sitting in Kaduna State has adjourned ruling on the bail application of former governor, Nasir El-Rufai, to March 31, 2026.
The adjournment followed Tuesday’s proceedings, during which both the prosecution and defence presented arguments on the bail request.
Counsel to the defendant, Ukpon Akpan, urged the court to grant bail, citing his client’s constitutional rights and the need to adequately prepare his defence.
However, the prosecution opposed the application, arguing that the charges against the former governor are serious and that granting bail could interfere with ongoing investigations.
The court is expected to deliver its ruling at the next adjourned date.
