Ekiti 2026: APC Adopts Grassroots Campaign Strategy, Targets 95% Votes For Oyebanji

As the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State approaches, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a shift in its campaign strategy, opting for grassroots engagement rather than the conventional large-scale campaign rallies often described as “jamborees.”

The party’s State Chairman, Sola Elesin, disclosed that the party would soon inaugurate campaign councils across the local government areas of the state to kick-start what he described as a robust and well-structured campaign drive.

Elesin, who spoke during a statewide engagement tour by members of the APC State Executive Council, said the party’s campaign would focus on intensive interactions at the unit, ward, and local government levels.

According to him, the approach is aimed at strengthening the party’s connection with the grassroots while consolidating support for the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji.

“Our campaign will involve intra-unit, intra-ward and intra-local government engagements, deviating from the usual jamboree-style campaigns. Our goal is to secure at least 95 per cent of the total votes across the state,” Elesin said.

He also extended an olive branch to party members who are yet to fully align with the party’s current direction, urging them to join forces with the APC ahead of the election.

“There is still time for those who are sitting on the fence to come on board and contribute to the party’s victory. The signs are clear that the APC is poised for a historic win in Ekiti State,” he added.

Similarly, the APC State Secretary, Garba Arogundade, said feedback from communities visited during the tour indicated widespread support for the Oyebanji administration.

He stated that residents across the state expressed appreciation for the governor’s developmental strides and indicated readiness to reward him with a second term in office.

“The message from the grassroots is clear — Governor Oyebanji remains the preferred candidate. What we witnessed during the tour was overwhelming support and appreciation for the administration’s efforts in promoting development across the state,” Arogundade said.

The party leadership also urged members and supporters to obtain their National Identification Numbers (NIN) to facilitate electronic registration and advised eligible voters who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so in order to exercise their franchise during the election.
