The defections were formally announced during plenary by the Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, who read the letters submitted by the affected lawmakers.
Those who moved from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) include Inuwa Garuba, representing Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency of Gombe State; Abdullahi El‑Rasheed, who represents Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency, also in Gombe State; and Mohammed Audu, representing Karim Lamido/Lau/Ardo-Kola Federal Constituency of Taraba State.
In the same development, Obika Chinedu, the lawmaker representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory, defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the APC.
Also announcing a change of political platform was Adewale Adebayo, who represents Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu Federal Constituency of Osun State, as he dumped the PDP for the Accord Party.
In their separate letters to the House, the lawmakers cited persistent internal crises within their former parties as the major reason for their defections.
The latest development is expected to further reshape the political landscape in the lower chamber of the National Assembly as parties continue to reposition ahead of future political contests.
