Zamfara Governor, Deputy defect from PDP to APC
The Governor and Deputy Governor of Zamfara State have officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing the move as necessary to secure development, peace, and federal support for the state.
The announcement was made by Deputy Governor Mani Malam Mummuni on behalf of Governor Dauda Lawal Dare during an event attended by party stakeholders and supporters.
Mummuni said the decision followed “extensive consultations and a careful assessment of the current political situation in the state and the country,” adding that it was in the best interest of the people of Zamfara.
“We, the Governor, his team, and I, have decided to officially leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress,” Mummuni stated.
He noted that the defection aims to strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government, address security challenges, and accelerate socio-economic development in the state.
Mummuni called on party members and supporters to embrace the move, urging them to unite for the state’s progress. “We call on all our supporters, party members, and the good people of Zamfara to support this move for the greater good of the state,” he said.
