An explosion rattled Dubai International Airport on Saturday, followed by a plume of smoke, as Iranian attacks continued across the Gulf region.

A witness told AFP that the blast was audible over the airport, while flight tracking service Flightradar24 showed planes circling in holding patterns.

Dubai Media Office described the incident as “a minor incident resulting from the fall of debris after an interception” in a post on X, while denying reports of major damage.

Four airport staff were reportedly injured, and a concourse sustained damage. Authorities said the situation was “quickly contained.”

Limited flights resumed from the world’s busiest airport for international traffic on Monday, despite ongoing daily drone attacks across the United Arab Emirates.

Iranian strikes have also targeted Abu Dhabi Airport, the Palm Jumeirah development, and the Burj Al Arab luxury hotel, while debris from drones caused a fire at the US consulate in Dubai earlier this week.

The incident comes amid escalating tensions in the Gulf following US-Israeli military strikes on Iran, which have prompted retaliatory attacks across the region.
