Ekiti 2026: Oyebanji unveils 5,000 canvassers for re-election bid
Ekiti State Governor and governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, has inaugurated 5,000 community canvassers to mobilise support for his re-election ahead of the June 20, 2026 governorship election.
The canvassers, described as Person-to-Person Community Canvassers for Biodun Oyebanji/Monisade Afuye and President Bola Tinubu, were assembled by the Director-General of the Bureau of Community Communications, Mary Oso-Omotosho.
Speaking at the inauguration on Friday, Oyebanji thanked the volunteers for their commitment to mobilising voters for his re-election and that of President Bola Tinubu.
He urged party supporters, mobilisers, and opposition members to maintain peace throughout the election period.
“The only way to say thank you to President Tinubu for all he has been doing for Ekiti State is to come out en masse to vote on June 20,” Oyebanji said.
The governor expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory in the election, adding that the party was aiming for a wide margin of votes to strengthen its prospects ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“As you continue with this mobilisation, please be at peace with everybody. We are one in Ekiti State and we should not allow politics to divide us. I don’t want you to fight with anyone,” he said.
Oyebanji also appealed to candidates and members of opposition parties to conduct their campaigns peacefully.
“Let everybody go and sell themselves and their manifestoes to the people of Ekiti State and let the people make their choice. No ambition is worth the blood of any citizen,” he added. The governor further encouraged eligible residents to participate in the Independent National Electoral Commission’s ongoing voter registration exercise and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in order to vote in the election.
