A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has called for the dismissal of Arise TV anchor Rufai Oseni, describing his conduct during a recent interview as “totally unprofessional”.

Igbokwe made the remarks on Friday via a Facebook post, reacting to Oseni’s heated exchange with Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, on the Arise TV Morning Show.

During the program, Oseni interrupted the ambassador while he attempted to respond to claims that Israel was not innocent in the Middle East crisis, citing alleged atrocities in Gaza and other regions. At one point, Oseni reportedly told the envoy: “Hang on a minute, let me finish. Do not interrupt me, ambassador. Let me finish.”

The incident drew mixed reactions on social media, with some criticizing the journalist’s approach. Igbokwe condemned the anchor’s behavior, calling him “rude, unbelievably arrogant, and not a trained journalist”, adding that his “temperament is very bad, unacceptable and totally unprofessional.”

The APC chieftain stated he had formally requested that Arise TV remove Oseni from the station, citing the need for professional standards in journalism.
