Osun 2026: ADC Names Agiri As Salam’s Running Mate

The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced Mrs. Temitope Yemisi Agiri as the deputy governorship candidate to Dr. Najeem Salam for the forthcoming 2026 governorship election in Osun State.

The announcement, made on Wednesday, was welcomed by the Osun State chapter of the party, which described the choice as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party’s chances in the August gubernatorial election.

In a statement jointly signed by Major R.A. Towobola (Rtd.), leader of the PDP Extraction (Isokan) bloc, and Comrade Ekundayo Olatunde, secretary of the bloc within the ADC, the party said the selection reflected the spirit of compromise and internal cohesion among the various tendencies in the party.

According to the statement, Mrs. Agiri’s emergence alongside Salam, who represents the Omoluabi progressive bloc, demonstrates the party’s commitment to balancing the interests of its three major tendencies — Omoluabi, Isokan and Legacy — within the ADC structure in the state.

The party commended the national leadership, including the National Chairman, Senator David Mark; the National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; and the South-West National Vice Chairman, Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, for ensuring what it described as a transparent and rancour-free selection process.

It also noted that Agiri’s selection would help consolidate support for the party, particularly within the Isokan political zone of the state.

ADC further pledged its commitment to providing quality leadership and good governance to the people of Osun State, describing the emergence of Agiri as a significant step toward strengthening the party ahead of the election.

The party also applauded the leadership for demonstrating gender inclusiveness in the selection process and urged party supporters across the state to mobilise for victory at the polls.
