Dangote Warns Public Against Fraudsters Impersonating Family
Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has raised the alarm over increasing cases of impersonation and fraudulent activities by individuals falsely claiming to represent the company, its executives, and members of the Dangote family.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Tuesday, the company said it had become aware of schemes involving fake investment offers, business proposals, charity drives, employment promises, and other tactics designed to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
“Dangote Industries Limited has become aware of increasing cases of impersonation and fraudulent activities carried out by individuals falsely claiming to represent the company, its leadership, and members of the Dangote family,” the statement read.
The company clarified that neither its Group President, Aliko Dangote, nor any executive — including the Group Executive Director, Commercial Operations (Oil & Gas) — nor members of the Dangote family solicit funds, investments, contracts, or personal information through social media platforms such as WhatsApp, X, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, or Instagram.
“For the avoidance of doubt… they do not have Facebook and TikTok accounts,” DIL stated, stressing that under no circumstances do its executives initiate direct contact with private individuals for financial transactions or business opportunities via social media.
The company advised the public to disregard unsolicited messages, calls, or online accounts claiming affiliation with Dangote Industries or its leadership. It noted that all official communications are disseminated strictly through verified corporate channels and recognised media platforms.
Dangote Industries added that it is working closely with security and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those behind the fraudulent schemes.
“Dangote Industries Limited remains committed to protecting its brand integrity and the safety of Nigerians,” the statement said, urging anyone who receives suspicious communications to report them to the appropriate authorities immediately.
