The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has reaffirmed Sunday Fagbemi as its State Chairman following Tuesday’s state congress in Ilorin, where party executives were also confirmed for another term.

Speaking after his affirmation, Fagbemi described the re-election as a rare privilege and thanked delegates, party elders, and members for their renewed mandate. He specifically acknowledged the support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, describing their guidance as pivotal to the party’s success in the state.

“I take this as a new assignment to coordinate all efforts and strategies to consolidate the development and democratic hold of our party in Kwara State in the coming elections,” Fagbemi said.

Highlighting achievements under the current APC administration, he noted:

586.09 km of roads constructed or rehabilitated over six years (326.46 km completed, 259.63 km ongoing).

8,912 teachers recruited and adjustments to civil service minimum wages.

Payment of N50,000 social security stipends to about 10,000 senior citizens.

Enhanced focus on security, with assurances to combat terrorism and criminality, including abduction for ransom.

On the economy, Fagbemi praised President Tinubu’s reforms, describing them as bold measures that had freed resources and strengthened the national economy. He reassured the President of the party’s continued support in Kwara State and called on party members seeking elective offices to adhere to democratic principles and party rules.

The congress also served as a platform for reviewing party progress and preparing for upcoming political activities, including primaries ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Fagbemi expressed confidence that the APC would secure electoral victory again in 2027, emphasizing unity and strategic mobilization across the state.
