2027 Presidency: Tinubu intolerant of opposition despite governance challenges — Dele Momodu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is unwilling to entertain political competition ahead of the 2027 general elections, despite what he described as significant governance failures.

Momodu made the remarks in a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, where he expressed concern over what he termed Nigerians’ growing acceptance of hardship and political complacency.

According to him, many citizens appear unaware of the implications of their continued support for leadership that, in his view, has not delivered expected results across key sectors.

“I’m surprised that so many Nigerians are choosing to enter slavery willingly and even embracing servitude,” he wrote.

He recalled Nigeria’s historical struggle against military dictatorship, noting that the lessons from that era seemed to be fading from public consciousness.

Momodu further warned that leaders who portray themselves as saviours often prioritize personal and inner-circle interests over national development.

“Nigeria is now at that point, and only God can free us. There’s no doubt that President Tinubu is not open to any competition in 2027,” he stated.

The media entrepreneur also criticized the administration’s performance, alleging shortcomings in budgeting, security, and governance communication.

“He expects complete support even though there have been terrible failures in every area — budgets, security, and governance replaced largely by propaganda,” Momodu added.

He maintained that his comments were driven not by partisan politics but by concern for Nigeria’s future, stressing that the country urgently requires what he described as a national rescue effort.

Momodu concluded by urging Nigerians to reflect on current realities, warning that future generations should not claim ignorance of present challenges.
