The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of running what it described as a nepotistic and irresponsible administration allegedly skewed toward the development of his hometown, Ede, at the expense of other parts of the state.
In a press statement issued on Saturday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the opposition party alleged that the Adeleke administration had failed to deliver balanced development across the 30 local government areas of the state.
The APC claimed that residents were becoming dissatisfied with what it termed “a barrage of misleading claims” by the governor regarding the performance of his administration.
According to the statement, the party faulted remarks credited to the governor during a recent Executive Council meeting, where he reportedly reiterated his administration’s commitment to the development of Osun State and announced plans for teachers’ recruitment.
The opposition party alleged that the promise of recruiting teachers had been repeatedly made without implementation, describing it as one of several unmet commitments by the government.
The APC further argued that developmental projects under the current administration were largely concentrated in Ede North and Ede South local government areas, accusing the governor of prioritising projects in his hometown over other communities, including Osogbo, the state capital.
The party listed several road projects allegedly linking different towns to Ede, claiming they had either been dualised or were undergoing rapid construction, while other areas lacked similar infrastructural attention.
It also alleged that the state government was pursuing the construction of an airport in Ede despite a reported Federal Government directive against relocating the proposed Ido-Osun Airport project.
The APC maintained that the challenges confronting the administration were self-inflicted, urging the governor to respect the rule of law and ensure equitable distribution of projects across the state.
The party expressed optimism about the forthcoming governorship election, stating that voters would have the opportunity to change the leadership of the state.
Efforts to obtain an immediate response from the state government were unsuccessful as of press time.
