Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor announced his defection on Friday during a statewide broadcast, declaring that he moved to the APC alongside members of his cabinet and key officials of the PDP in the state.
Fintiri explained that his decision was driven by what he described as the developmental interest and political advancement of Adamawa State, stressing that the move was aimed at attracting greater opportunities and strengthening governance for the benefit of the people.
He noted that consultations were held with political stakeholders and party leaders before arriving at the decision.
The governor was later seen publicly displaying his APC membership card, symbolising his formal entry into the ruling party.
