Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has cautioned political appointees against convening meetings without official approval, warning that any violation would attract immediate sanctions, including possible dismissal from office.
The governor handed down the directive on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, and Chief of Staff, Barrister Sunny Ewule, held at the Executive Council Chamber, Government House, Port Harcourt.
Fubara said the appointments were made to strengthen governance and accelerate the delivery of his administration’s development agenda, stressing that government positions must not be used to advance personal or political interests.
He emphasized that all appointees must operate within established administrative procedures and maintain strict loyalty to the policies and objectives of the state government.
The governor further directed Permanent Secretaries nearing retirement to begin preparation of their handover notes to ensure seamless transition and continuity in the state’s public service.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to discipline, accountability and effective service delivery, noting that adherence to due process remains critical to achieving sustainable development in Rivers State.
