The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reactivated the 330 kilovolt (kV) Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2 after the completion of repair works, reinforcing electricity supply to parts of northern Nigeria.
In a statement issued Monday in Abuja, the General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed that the line was successfully energised following extensive technical interventions by TCN engineers.
She explained that the repair works were undertaken to safeguard the integrity and operational reliability of the transmission infrastructure, with strict compliance to safety and quality standards.
“With Line 1 and Line 2 now in operation, both circuits of the Shiroro–Mando 330kV transmission corridor are fully functional,” Mbah stated.
According to her, the restoration will strengthen bulk power transmission to the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company franchise area, enhance network flexibility and improve overall system stability.
The TCN spokesperson described the return of the two transmission lines as a major milestone in the company’s sustained drive to reinforce the national grid and enhance electricity delivery nationwide.
She further commended customers and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the outage, reiterating TCN’s commitment to building a more resilient and efficient transmission network.
It would be recalled that TCN had earlier restored the Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 1 before completing works on Line 2.
