Yul Edochie Speaks on Relationship with Children Amid Divorce Drama

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has denied claims that he has abandoned his children with his first wife, May Edochie, insisting that he remains closely involved in their lives despite the ongoing marital dispute.

The actor’s clarification comes as he and May continue to seek a legal dissolution of their marriage, which has been under intense public scrutiny since April 2022, when Yul publicly introduced actress Judy Austin as his second wife.

May Edochie filed for divorce in 2023, citing adultery and seeking N100 million in damages. Reports indicate that the divorce proceedings have stalled over disagreements on the terms of dissolution and allegations of infidelity.

Amid these legal wranglings, speculation spread on social media that Yul had neglected his children from the first marriage. In a recent interview on the KaaTruths podcast, the actor dismissed such claims.

“I am in contact with my children. I have heard a lot of things about people saying ‘he abandoned his children,’” Yul said, stressing that he maintains regular communication and financial support.

He recounted a recent moment with his second son, who recently matriculated at a university. “He told me a day before, and I was busy at the time. People on social media are just one per cent of the truth. The real issues in families do not even make it online,” he added.

Yul further explained that his decision not to post his children online stems from a court order tied to the ongoing divorce proceedings. “There is a court order. It says anything concerning the children should not be posted, for their safety,” he noted.

The actor also addressed public curiosity about his family, noting that many people eager to comment on others’ private lives have their own unresolved family issues.

Meanwhile, Yul and Judy Austin welcomed their third child together last year, further fueling media attention on his personal life.
