Kwara Governor Sets Up Seven-Man Panel to Aid Woro Community After Tragic Incident

In a swift response to the recent crisis in Woro community, Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved the appointment of a seven-person committee to coordinate humanitarian support for the affected residents.

In a statement on Friday, Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, disclosed that Hon. Ahmed Kiwozi, a former lawmaker from Kaiama Local Government Area, has been named chairman of the committee.

Other members include Aisha Abubakar Sadiq, Vice Chairman of the Local Government Council; Alhaji Abubakar Mora; Woro Village Head, Alhaji Umar Bio Saliu; representatives from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP); and a female representative from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

According to Ajakaye, the panel has four weeks to engage with community leaders on rebuilding efforts, assess the needs of survivors, and address outstanding issues arising from the incident.

The move comes after widespread condemnation of the attack on the community, with calls for stronger security measures from both government and civil society groups.
