The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has intercepted a suspected human trafficker and rescued 10 minors in Jalingo, Taraba State.
The Taraba State Commandant of NAPTIP, Mr. Bako Amos, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists over the weekend, stating that the operation followed credible intelligence.
Amos said the suspect was apprehended at about 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Kurmi Park, Jalingo, during a joint operation with the Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor on Human Trafficking, Mrs. Sarah Ishaya.
According to him, the suspect was caught while making arrangements to move the children to an undisclosed destination suspected to be linked to a trafficking network.
He added that the rescued minors and the suspect are currently in the agency’s protective custody, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
NAPTIP assured that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
