NSCDC Promotes 113 Officers, Bars Lobbying for New Postings

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has promoted 113 senior officers from the rank of Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) to Commandant of Corps (CC), with a stern warning against lobbying for postings.
The decoration ceremony, held on Thursday at the NSCDC headquarters in Abuja, was presided over by the Commandant-General (CG), Prof. Ahmed Audi.
Addressing the newly promoted officers, Audi said their postings would be announced within a week, stressing that the promotion automatically requires movement from their current stations.
“Between today and next week, your postings will be released. With this promotion, you must move to a new station. Do not lobby for postings; accept wherever you are deployed because you do not know what God has planned for you,” he said.
The 113 officers are part of the 5,859 personnel promoted by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) in December 2025. Audi noted that the latest elevation has increased the number of commandants in the corps to over 300, within a total workforce of about 63,000 personnel.
While congratulating the officers, the CG reminded them that increased rank comes with greater responsibility.
“To whom much is given, much is expected,” he said, urging them to remain disciplined, composed and proactive in tackling security challenges across the country.
Audi also recalled that before his administration, some officers stagnated on the same rank for over a decade, a situation that affected morale within the service.
“Because of this, morale was low. However, the story is different today,” he added.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Secretary to the CDCFIB, retired Major-General Abdulmalik Jubril, described the promotions as timely and critical to strengthening national security.
He disclosed that the newly promoted officers would be assigned additional responsibilities, including VIP protection and escort duties, and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by President Bola Tinubu.
One of the beneficiaries, Commandant Hussaini Pama, expressed appreciation to the President, the Minister of Interior, the CDCFIB and the NSCDC leadership for the promotion.
Pama described the elevation as both a motivation and a call to higher service, pledging renewed commitment to the protection of lives and property nationwide.
