The Jigawa State Government has called for collective responsibility from farmers, herders, and other stakeholders to address the persistent conflicts between the two groups.

Deputy Governor, Engineer Aminu Usman Gumel, made the call yesterday during the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Jigawa State chapter, in Dutse.

Gumel stressed the need for collaboration between herders, farmers, and government authorities to find lasting solutions to the recurring clashes. He noted that the administration of Governor Umar Namadi remains committed to improving the welfare of Fulani cattle rearers, citing the establishment of a Ministry of Livestock to address herders’ challenges across the state.

He also congratulated the new MACBAN executives and urged members to actively participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise, describing it as a key tool for electing credible leaders.

Earlier, the National Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Baba Usman Nganjarma, assured that the association would work closely with the government to promote peace and development. He tasked the new executives to adhere strictly to the association’s constitution, warning that officials found wanting would be replaced.
