Obi likened to footballers for frequent party switches – Tinubu aide

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has compared former presidential candidate Peter Obi to Premier League footballers who change clubs every season.
Speaking on The Clarity Zone Podcast, Bwala described Obi as a “political opportunist” and “actor,” accusing him of inconsistency in his political affiliations.
According to Bwala, Obi’s supporters on social media often criticize others for switching parties but overlook their leader’s frequent defections.
“Of all the political gladiators in Nigeria, the one who acts the most is Peter Obi. After the 2023 elections, he lost nearly all the support he once commanded,” Bwala said.
He added, “He had members in the House of Representatives and Senate, and even a governor. Today, how many of them are still aligned with him? Very few, if any.”
Bwala further accused Obi of failing to build a sustainable political movement. “A true movement departs from the norm. Obi’s supposed movement appears to lack genuine intent to govern. People will eventually realize this.”
On Obi’s party affiliations, Bwala said: “He moved from APGA to PDP, then to the Labour Party, and now he is in ADC. Just like footballers changing clubs every season, he seems to change parties without a clear purpose.”
